ArtJewelry, may 2011

i really enjoy getting my magazines every couple of months, no matter what's in them, but the may issue of artjewelry had SO MANY things i was interested in!!!
for instance, jewelers of hudson valley exhibit in from april-june....i was raised in the hudson valley and it's quite close by...

my favorite type of rivets is tube rivets. i've been using my agate burnisher to flare, but this tool (Tim's Tube Riveting Tool)looks GREAT....

i've never been interested at all in chain-making or chainmaille, but these illustrations really caught my eye! i might try that full persian!

this ad made me a bit sad... i won't be able to make it to the metal clay world conference this summer, and it looks like they are pairing up with the polymer clay people...i would LOVE to attend some polymer clay seminars/demonstrations...

the gallery pages are always inspiring...

love that jasper in lee rumsey haga's work...

great, simple instructions to make a box clasp (someday i will)...

gosh, i love the use of line in christy klug's work...

inspiring earwire design options (kathleen dustin)...

and finally, i've never made a pin/brooch and i think maybe i've never worn one, but i know just where to go if i want to make a simple pinback in metal clay...

what a GREAT issue!

No. You didn't ruin it for me at all. I'm looking forward to it even more. It still isn't here today, but it will be soon. I think Maine is at the end of the line for a lot of magazines. At least we get them!

Still no magazine! Argh!
I wish we were going back to Rockland together soon. Have you made any more head pins yet?

well, SHOOT!
about the have-i-made-any-glass-headpins....it's 11:42pm on a friday and i'm grading art history research papers. i have done NOTHING but be a teacher for about 9 days straight. i don't even know if i've been a good teacher...but i do know i've been a sucky mom and wife and a ghost of an artist...i'm staying up till i'm done, and then MAYBE i can squeek an hour or 2 in the studio this weekend. i did etch my headpins, though! on such a small scale it doesn't make a noticeable difference (read-wasted 20 minutes ;o) ha, ha )

Teachers are so underpaid!!! I'm sure you have been a terrific teacher and I know you are a good Mom, and a good wife. You just be tired.
Don't mix up the fatal etch cream with face cream!
I have some etched head pins from SueBeads and I like them better than the shiny ones. They're pretty big, though. 6mm or a teeny bit bigger. Check her blog from today to see what she was doing.

You and I know how to do this...but we can't make them look like that yet.....xoxo
