great hope: great disappointment

on 2 fronts....
this necklace looks SO GOOD off! laying around on a table, dangling in midair....the light catches the brushed, hammered surface of the circles; the brown/red/gray palette is so earthy and appealing. then, within minutes of putting it on....THIS...

the beaded dangles don't weigh enough to keep the center circle from rotating. that dark vertical line represents the center-line of my throat. and also, the toggle twists within the oval catch of the clasp, so the circles don't lie flat. see the arrow?
2 hours to wire/bead the circles together. ugh.
in the past i would have tried to convince myself that THE NEXT TIME i wear it for product testing, that won't happen. i know better now. bad design is bad design.
it gets dismantled tonight.

also, that big chunky ring? way too small, cracked and misshapen. no need for pics.

i better get into that studio and make something good to take away the discouragement.

i know. it's all delicate and beautiful. frakin' thing. i had a FEELING when i was putting it together...a sneaking suspicion-but i didn't want to give up halfway thru, JUST IN CASE. it was going to go to your girl, for graduation, too.

How'd you do that arrow?

Oh! And I meant to add, I like the open ring combination. I have had the exact same problem with a wire connection between rings or donuts. Can't quite figure it out. I never thought it might be the toggle....but now I do! Thanks!

i made that arrow in "imageready" an application that comes ready-installed on my mac. it's purpose is to get photos ready for the web, i think....it has some tools similar to photoshop. i drew the little arrow.
