should they stay or should they go?
these 2 have been plaguing me.....the leaf one for weeks (months?!) and the "interesting prong" one since day before yesterday, when i realized that not only are the circles awkwardly placed on the surface of the beach stone, but the darn stone slips right out of it's cold connection.
the only thing that could possibly save the beach stone one is tube rivets through the stone and backing. the question is, would it be worth the all of the TIME invested, or does the awkward placement of the circles preclude moving forward. goodness knows, i don't want to spend 2 hours on something i'm suspicious will turn out, well, ugly. anyone have an opinion?
and i'm about DONE with the patina on this leaf one. i have liver of sulphur-ed it at least 6 separate times. my last ditch effort will be firing it back to white and then trying prismacolors on the background. if that doesn't work, i'm going to carefully saw out that sunstone (a shame, since i set it so nicely) and toss that stinker in the junk pile....

Wow, I haven't checked your blog in a few days. I really like how the circle prongs look on the stone in the top photo, but I can see what you mean about the stone slipping out. Leave it on your bench for a while and an idea will come up. What about drilling the rock in a few places and using balled-end wire through the top of the stone to rivet it in place?
With the leaf piece, couldn't you just heat it with a torch to remove the patina? I think the reason it hasn't worked out is that the Prisma color idea is REALLY exciting!
And, it is really exciting that I am going to see you in less than a week!!
