in my retirement years...
i will learn to REALLY spin yarn, and maybe i will also learn how to make lampwork glass beads. this bunch of yarn overhead...i made it at rhinebeck last weekend at a drop spindle spinning class. i made the little bunch in front while i was there and then spent HOURS spinning (incorrectly, i might add) that bigger heap in the back on saturday and sunday nights. there's something called "drafting" that i just couldn't get the hang of. don't get me wrong, i WILL knit something out of it...it's just a bit fatter than i was hoping for...
anyway, my point is this...there are only so many hours in the day...i can't be good at everything i want to be good at right now...spinning is fun and mesmerizing but right now i need to be a good family member, a good teacher, a good jewelry artist and a good knitter...maybe later i can be a good spinner and a good glass artist and a good farmer...

seriously, this retirement farming? i'm totally with you on that! also, that yarn is gorgeous.
Beautiful colors in this yarn. Did you dye it yourself? There is a whole group of spinners up here who meet once a week. I never could get the hang of it, but if you ever come up to Maine on a Wednesday, we'll go to spinning!
