"spring" 2011

it's supposed to be in the 60s here today. it's the first sock-free day of 2011.
if i was a teenager, i would have slipped on my flip-flops a couple weeks ago.
pathetic post, i know, but tomorrow my little family flies away for a day of snowboarding (without me!) so my plan is to install myself in the studio first, for several hours, and then down in the kitchen with my camera. hopefully some reasonably engaging posts will follow!

Oooh! A day alone in the studio sounds great. I'd take that over snowboarding any day. 60 sounds great too. We saw 45 yesterday and it felt like a heat wave. 36 and drizzling here right now and Stefanie just called to see if I wanted to go for my February dip....

you probably should dip! it's supposed to get much colder ahead and there's not much time left in this month!!!!

Did a double. Went at 10 a.m. with Stefanie. Then went again with Cindy when she got off the 11:30 boat. 3 out of 4 dippers today. Not bad.'

Bring you suit to Rockland! Maybe we could get a March dip there. The March air will be warmer, but the water will be the coldest in March.

does it count if you're not on little cranberry?! i will DEFINITELY do it but i'd love to do one someday with the rest of the dip of the month club too!

It counts as long as you do it in an outside body of water above the 42nd parallel. I think Rockland is at 44. It's the only bylaw that sounds like a bylaw. We only instigated it when someone asked about getting "dip" points for a swim on a cruise ship. I think we lowered it to 42, so an islander who was going to college in Beverly would still qualify if she went into the ocean there!
I'm sure someday you will be ion the island to do it with the rest of us. Maybe in June?

interesting by-law! it wouldn't seem right to get credit for a warm caribbean dip!!!
