unexpected blistering

i fired this ring a second time to get rid of the patina in preparation for some sheet gold keum-boo. it just came out of the kiln for a second time, and this time through these blisters appeared. both times i fired it at 1650 for 2 hours, because i want a really strong ring. the only explanation that makes sense is that my "bezel" sheets were not laminated properly (i use 3 sheets of metal clay paper laminated together with water to make flexible bezels). the strange part is that they didn't show up after the first firing. my hopes are that when i go to burnish down the bezel sides against the square pietersite i can flatten those blisters out.

AARGH! How frustrating! and how strange that they didn't appear after the first firing, but did after the second. I'm perplexed.
