OH, RATS!

i've been wearing this ring for over a year. i even called this my favorite ring. i think better name would be "the ring that never sintered properly". evidence that kate mckinnon is right that when you fire at lower temperatures to accommodate stones, there is an un-sintered price to be paid. granted, i was swinging my arms around like a crazy person, searching for my lost car keys and caught the "face" of the ring on the edge of the car door....maybe the whole "face" would've popped off if it had been properly sintered; i hit it pretty hard. or maybe not. just another on the list of reasons not to make rings to sell. too fragile. right along with... too soft and scratchable...and too soft and bendable.

Bummer! I love that ring. I even have a picture of it on your hand from last summer in Chicago! I'm thinking there must be a way to fire a stoneless ring, a la Kate, and then do a second lower temperature firing to set the stone. It might be a little hard to work out the setting, but if the ring was fired first at 1650 for 2 hours, it would be really strong. If anyone could figure out the setting, you could!

you're so sweet to be so encouraging....you have a more positive view of my abilities than i do! and, interestingly, i just went from "giving up" mode to "well, maybe...."
i think you need to be a teacher.

Ha ha. The thought of teaching makes me break out in a sweat. Really!
I bet you won't give up. You stuck with fusing those jump rings....
